Wincnc How-To's

How To Do a Clean Install of Wincnc

1. Backup your existing Wincnc folder to a ZIP folder.
2. Uninstall Wincnc
3. Download WinDemo.zip from wincnc's website
4. Extract all files from WinDemo.zip
5. Run install.msi from the extracted files folder.
6. When the hardware installation prompt comes up, click continue anyway
7. Click in the command line window, then press any key to continue.
8. Download the latest version of the software from Wincnc's software updates download folder on their site. (i.e. WCnc2403.zip)
9. Right-click on WCnc2xxx.zip, then click Extract All.
10. Click the Next button.
11. Click the Browse button.
12. From My Computer, choose Local Disc (c:) then the folder Wincnc.
13. The wizard should now say "Files will be extracted to this directory: C:\Wincnc
14. Click the Next button
15. When prompted to replace files, click Yes To All.
16. Make sure Show Extracted Files is Checked, then click Finish.
17. Double-click Wincnc.exe to confirm that the program will load.
18. A security warning may pop up. If it does, Uncheck "Always Ask before opening this file", then click the Run button.
19. Extract the following files from the backup .ZIP file you made earlier into your c:\Wincnc folder:
    1. cnc.dat (or any other files with the .dat extension inside the backed-up wincnc folder)
    2. wincnc.ini
    3. all of your macro files, which includes, but is not limited to the following:
       1. cnc.mac
       2. G37Z
       3. any file with the .MAC extension
20. Start Wincnc. Make sure the machine moves properly and the limit switches trigger.
21. Copy the cncscrn.ini file and the bitmaps folder from the old installation backup into the new wincnc folder.
